MARYSVILLE A winless Arlington team vainly struggled to win a game in their 3-0 loss to Marysville-Pilchuck on the home teams senior night.
Emotions ran high for the Lakewood Cougars in their Oct. 23 matchup with the Coupeville Wolves. For 13 graduating seniors, the game marked the last time they would play a regular season game together at home. Most of the seniors have grown up playing soccer together, some for as long as 12 years with the same teammates.
After a disappointing loss to Granite Falls on Oct. 16 the Lakewood Cougars could have folded the tents and gone home for the winter. Instead theyve been playing their best volleyball of the season and with the return of a healthy Amanda Gregory, will be looking to make a mark in the playoffs.

The third time was the charm for Lakewood soccer, as the Cougars finally defeated conference archnemesis Cedarcrest, 1-0, to win the district championship May 10.

Lakewood athletes were named conference champs in eight events when Cedarcrest hosted the Cascade Conference track and field championships May 7 and 9.
