Tomahawk golfers
improve at districts

Led by sophomore Stacia Ashley, the M-P girls golf team took fourth out of nine teams at divisionals May 6 and 8.
By the end of the two-day meet at Legion Memorial and Camaloch golf courses, Ashley placed eighth out of 53 golfers and earned second-team all-conference notice.
Three more Tomahawk golfers placed in the top half of the competition as junior Sara Rott took 16th place, junior Brielle Saunders finished 22nd and freshman Abby Beauchamp 23rd.
Our goal is to have everybody make the cut for the second day of districts, said coach Jaci Legore Hodgins. This means they have to place in the top 40, including ties. We will be playing at Gallery, up in Oak Harbor at the Navy Base. Who goes to state is determined by who makes the top 15 going on Thursday the second round of districts.
Districts will take place May 13 and 15.

A consistent boys golf
team takes sixth

The Marysville boys golf team placed sixth out of nine teams over two days at Snohomish and Battle Creek Golf Courses.
Brandon Caldwell led the Tomahawk effort, hitting 161 strokes on 36 holes. Caldwell finished the par 73 Battle Creek course May 8 with an 80-stroke performance. The next four Tomahawk golfers proved as consistent from the first day to the second. Junior Nathan Pratt had 85-stroke games on both May 6 and 8 to finish second for the team, followed by senior Justin Freeman with 173 strokes overall, Kyle Hanks with 176 overall and Tanner Cockerill with 182 overall.
The guys go on to districts at Gallery Golf Course May 13. The top 40 golfers will qualify for a second day of districts at the same site May 15.
