The large number of people in prison and the huge costs to society, both financially and socially, should be enough to not only justify but mandate serious criminal justice reform.
Arlington Dollars for Scholars Foundation would like to thank the Arlington Runners Club and their sponsors for donating the proceeds from their fun run in Glen Eagle Saturday, June 9, to ADFSF. Other supporters of ADFSF for this run were Action Sports, Arlington Pharmacy, Carl Tosten, Denton Massage and Wellness Clinic, Electric Beach, Favorite Pastimes, Flowers by George, Frontier Bank and the Village Restaurant. Each donated items to be used for prizes for the runners. I am pleased and proud of being part of Arlington and the way it supports ADFSF and in this case the youth and their future. Thank you from the Officers and Board of ADFSF and next years recipient of this scholarship.

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to thank the Silvana Fair Board for its touching dedication of the 2007 fair to Martin Danner. We were especially moved by the Dedication of the Lamp Post at noon. For many years, dad could not wait to get up at 5 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of July and drag out all of the electrical cords, speakers and do whatever else electrical people needed. He seemed to just get done by 930 a.m., to then run the Kids Games. From the Danner family, thank you.
We have lived in Arlington our entire lives and all eight of our children were born at Cascade Valley Hospital. With eight active children, we have also visited the ER many times and have always been thankful for the prompt service and caring staff.
My heart goes out to the pet owners around the country whose pets have been made sick and sometimes killed by contaminated wheat gluten from China. To see any living creature, especially a much-loved one, suffering is a painful experience for anyone.
The Arlington-Smokey Point Chamber of Commerce has as its mission to cultivate a business community that works together to enhance economic vitality in the Greater Arlington area. In May, the citizens of our community will be asked to pass Proposition 1, a $45 million bond issue to improve and modernize the emergency room facilities at Cascade Valley Hospital.
We wish to thank all the supporters, participants and volunteers who helped to make the 12th Annual A Farmers Market Springtime Garden Faire for 2007 a rousing success. Thank you to those who came and supported us with your presence and your dollars too. It was held Saturday March 31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Stanwood/Camano Fairgrounds. Next year it will be the first Saturday in April, our usual day. An extra special thanks to Bruce Boettcher owner, and Nate, of B-Square Electric Co, No Job is too Small: 652-4858, for their expertise and long hours. Also cheers to Kathy and Gary Beard of Camano Islands Company Perks Coffee: 387-2372 and Stanwood QFC for their promotional endeavors. We especially appreciate Malynda Shipley, Stanwood/Camano Fair Manager for all her hours of assistance. We also wish to thank the many stores and offices that posted our flyers and hosted our brochure holders. Advanced Storage of Stanwood, Stanwood Shell Deli and Gas at I-5, Vantero Gas Station at 72nd and Hwy 530 and Burger King are especially appreciated for hosting our big 4×4 signs. Garden Faire, the longest continuous garden/craft show in North Snohomish County, broke customer attendance records this year. We had over 70 booths, including free gardening workshops and educational booths. Select home service exhibits were added this year as we endeavor to become our own local Home & Garden Shop. All wares sold are made, grown or baked in Washington state by the vendor, friend or family member with no Big Box big Corporations or imports. We feature specialty nurseries, country crafts, fine art and yummy eats. We learned a lot this first year in the brand new Bonnie Cole Youth Hall (or big red barn). And with the experience gained (it was first year for half the staff), we know that 2008 Garden Faire will be much warmer, bigger and better again. Thanks to our North Snohomish communities, to those many folks who go unnamed but not forgotten, as without you we could not put on this wonderful free family event!
With the Immigration Bill looming in the Senate we are on the path to a one-party system. What would be the ramifications, if true? With the election of Thomas Jefferson, America became a two-party system with a smooth transition from one political partys leadership to the other. Through wise compromise, our U.S. Senate has managed to keep the two-party system.

Where do we begin in thanking all the people involved in passage of the bond for renovation and new construction at Cascade Valley Hospital? The voters should be given accolades for recognizing the need for expansion of the emergency department and other areas of the hospital. You provided the votes needed to make it happen.
Saturday, May 12, was the annual Letter Carrier Food Drive. And once again it was a big success for the Arlington Community Food Bank. Donations from the community totaled 15, 378 pounds of assorted food items.
