Triple for Trinidad at championships

OAK HARBOR – Boys are Arlington’s track team won three events as the Eagles won the Wesco 3A North Championships Friday in Oak Harbor.

Wyatt Hawthorne placed first in the pole vault with a mark of 13 feet and 3 inches. Teammate Gabriel Green placed first in the javelin, heaving the spear 173 feet.

And Campbell Hudson took the 300 hurdles in 41.2 seconds.

Arlington took the team title with 183 points. Marysville Getchell was sixth with 46 points. Its only winner was Gregory Panther in the 400 meters with a time of 1:57.88.

Marysville-Pilchuck was last with 26 points.

For the girls, Arlington led the local teams, placing third with 124.5 points. MG was fourth with 78.5 and M-P fifth with 74.

Sidney Trinidad led the way with a win in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.3 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 44.79. She also was on the winning 4 by 100 meters relay team, with a time of 49.74 seconds. Also on that team were Juliette Williams, Reagan Beaton and Mary Catherine Meno.

The only other Eagle winner was in the shot put, Julia Parra tossed it 34 feet, 10.75 inches.

Marysville Getchell’s only win came in the 4 by 200 relay, which finished in 1:47.41. Team members are Kiarra Green, Chloe Bishop, Sabrina Farrell and Madeline Grandbois.

The only winning trackster for M-P was Trina Davis in the 100 meters at 12.62 seconds.

Track’s elite will compete in the District 1 Championships Wednesday and Friday in Shoreline for the right to go to state May 25-27 at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.
