The Tomahawks victory over the winless Bearcats gave M-P its fourth win in a row.
Junior running back Caleb Posey scored both of M-Ps two offensive touchdowns, the first of which came in the first quarter on a 32-yard run. M-P went up 6-0 after a failed extra point.
A second quarter safety made it an 8-0 halftime score as Monroe snapped the ball out of the end zone.
In the third quarter, Posey scored again, this time on a five-yard run. Once again, the Tomahawks failed on the extra point.
The Tomahawks final score came on the strength of their defensive game against Monroe. In addition to holding the Bearcats to 118 yards of offense, M-P caught three interceptions on their way to forcing five turnovers.
One of those interceptions, by junior cornerback Andy Abadam, was returned 40 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown.
Junior running back Travis Sanderson helped lead the offense with 88 yards rushing.
With the win, M-P moves on to face a 3-2 Cascade at home Oct. 12. The Bruins are fresh off a win against non-conference foe Shorewood; their two losses have come against Snohomish and Lake Stevens.
