Maysville School District hires coaches for Marysville Getchell’s inaugural season

The Marysville School District has announced the hiring of head coaches for the 2011-12 fall sports season at Marysville Getchell, as well as a new head coach to lead the Marysville-Pilchuck girls soccer team.

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville School District has announced the hiring of head coaches for the 2011-12 fall sports season at Marysville Getchell, as well as a new head coach to lead the Marysville-Pilchuck girls soccer team.

“This is a unique situation where they will be starting a program from the ground up,” said Greg Erickson, Marysville School District Athletic Director. “They are all very excited about this opportunity.”

Marysville-Pilchuck High School:

The Tomahawks have hired Paul Bartley, a longtime  soccer coach in the Snohomish County area, to lead the Marysville-Pilchuck girls soccer team for the 2011-12 Season. Bartley has coached at the high school level for both boys and girls in the Everett and Marysville school districts for the past several years. Bartley is currently the JV boys coach at Marysville Pilchuck High School.

Marysville Getchell High School:

The Chargers had hired the following individuals to lead Marysville Getchell into their inaugural fall sports season.

Davis Lura has been named the head coach for the Charger football program. He comes to Marysville from the Seattle School District where he served as the head coach at West Seattle High School and assisted at Ballard as well as Mountlake Terrace High School. Lura is a Stanwood High School graduate and received his college degree from Central Washington University where he played football.

Wayne Nash has been named the head coach for the Charger Girls’ Soccer Program at Marysville Getchell. Nash has co-coached girls soccer at Jefferson High School in Federal Way and Marysville School District. Nash currently serves as a graduation liaison for the Marysville School District and assists for the Cascade High School Boys’s Soccer Program.

Mindy Staudinger has been named the head coach for the Getchell Volleyball Program. Staudinger has an impressive resume as a player where she was a multiple year all-conference athlete at Marysville Pilchuck and went on to star at Montana State University. Staudinger has been a very successful coach in the volleyball select arena and looks forward to building a strong program at Marysville Getchell.

Robert Sherry will be the Marysville Getchell Head Boys’ Tennis coach. Sherry has been the long time head coach at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. Sherry’s strong background in Wesco Tennis will be significant in the building of Charger Tennis Program. Sherry teaches social studies in the International School of Communication on the Marysville Getchell Campus.

The cross country position had not filled at this time. The position is currently posted on the Marysville School District website at www.msvl.k12.wa.us.
