Marysville skaters win national honors

MARYSVILLE — Several local roller skaters return to Marysville as national champions after taking top spots in the National Roller Figure Skating Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

MARYSVILLE — Several local roller skaters return to Marysville as national champions after taking top spots in the National Roller Figure Skating Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Thirteen members of the Marysville Skate Inn’s roller figure skating team traveled to New Mexico and three returned with gold medal honors. Lona Dennis took first place in the Premier Ladies Gold Solo Dance. Mike Sheedy took first place in the Veteran Mens Figure event and Coral Chalice took first in the Golden Women Solo Dance.

Taking silver were Sue Logghe for the Veteran Ladies Solo Dance and Ginger Kriehn in the Veteran Ladies Figure event. Kreihn also took second in the Novice B Team Dance. Lona Dennis won a bronze medal for her performance in the Premier Ladies Silver Figure event.

Other skaters who competed in final events include Della Sheedy, Cheryl Baldwin, Joanne Foster, Tami Scurti, Mavis Redman, Jim Barrett, Beverly Boice and Dan Duffy.
