EVERETT — The Tomahawk swim team left their state-eligible swimmers at home and still managed an impressive win over Everett at Forest Park Pool.

M-P won the Jan. 22 meet 131-54, winning nine of 12 events.

A big help to the Tommies’ meet victory were wins in all three relays. Mario Reichlin, Connor Hemming, Riley Drabb and Jason Pusateri swam to victory in the meet-opening 200 medley relay, their time of 1:56.32 nearly 30 seconds faster than the first Everett relay. Pusateri was a contributor on the winning 200 freestyle relay as well, swimming the first leg. He was joined by Jesse Quinn, Drew Preston and Josh Rasmussen with a winning time of 1:47.86.

Along with Josh Estella, Britt Mann and Nathan Schaffer, Preston was a member of the winning 400 freestyle relay to close the meet.

Schaffer had wins in two individual events to go along with his relay win. Proving master of both the sprint and the marathon, the senior won the 50 freestyle — a meet’s shortest event — in 24.26 while also winning the 500 freestyle — the longest — in 6:02.96.

Relay winners Pusateri and Mann were also individual winners with Mann taking the 200 freestyle in 2:12.91, edging teammate Andrew Winquist for second place. Pusateri won the 100 butterfly, one of five events in which the Tomahawks swept the top three places.

Junior Stevie Utt was a winner in another such event, leading two teammates in the 100 breaststroke. Junior Jake Heath did it too in the 100 backstroke, winning in a time of 1:10.37.

The team will be back in dual meet action with their final such meet of the year against Oak Harbor Jan. 29.
