M-P sprinters stand out at home track meet

MARYSVILLE – When it comes to high school track, it’s hard to compete in the numbers game.

Shorecrest’s depth led to its wins in both boys and girls track Thursday at Quil Ceda Stadium over Marysville-Pilchuck and Everett.

What the Tommies lacked in numbers, they made up for in quality as the home team beat Everett twice.

For M-P, sprinter Galdino Fajardo stood out, winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.94 seconds.

Another Tommie, Keshawn King, beat the field in the 200, with a clocking of 24.75.

While those were the only M-P wins in the running events, the boys did win three field events.

In the discus, Jacob Olson won with a toss of 118 feet, 8 inches. Andy Thill placed first in the javelin with his throw of 91 feet. And, in the pole vault, Maxwell Shaffler took the title with a 10-6.

For the M-P girls, Trina Davis stood out in the sprints, winning the 100 in 12.75 seconds and the 200 in 26.3. Davis also ran the third leg of the 4×100 relay team from M-P, along with Garbriella Crenshaw, Chloe O’Loughlin and Catrina Wright, winning with a time of 51.15 seconds.

In the field events, high jumper Summer Sanden won with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches.
