M-P harriers represented well at Wesco championships

LAKEWOOD The M-P cross country team made themselves at home Saturday, Oct. 21, at Lakewood High School at the Wesco and Cascade Conference championships. The Lady Tomahawk harriers finished second among nine teams and their male counterparts came in seventh place.

Freshman Kaylie Kimmell led the Lady Tomahawks with a fifth-place overall finish time of 19:40 on the 5K (3.1-mile) course.
Sophomores Lauren Ainsworth (20:02) and Marissa Schafer (20:05) finished seventh and ninth place, respectively.
Junior Haley Nemra (20:39) came in 17th and senior Megan Crenshaw (21:14) finished 25th to round out the scoring.
Senior Jesse Masten was the first Tomahawk to cross the line with his 11th place time of 17:07.
Junior Ryan Lemmon came in three places and two seconds behind his teammate.
Freshmen Josh Rasmussen (39th place 17:54), Josh Laquian (42nd 18:03) and junior Brandon Nobach (44th 18:05) rounded out the scoring for M-P on the sunny afternoon.
The junior varsity Lady Tomahawks also placed second among nine teams and three of the top-5 finishers overall.
Robin Mueller came in second overall in a time of 21:57, Amanda Bates placed fourth in 22:20 and Amy Torkelson fifth in 22:34.
On the junior varsity boys side, M-P placed fourth out of 16 teams in the days biggest race.
David Hinckley came in 16th in 18:40, Trevor LeValley 18th in 18:43, Josh Helm 23rd in 18:55 and Colin Kreiger 25th in 19:00.
Coach Randy Edens said he felt good about his teams performance.
This gave us a good chance for us to see if we were better than our Hole in the Wall performance here earlier in the season, Edens said.
I think both the boys and girls have a great shot at both districts and state. We just have to do what were capable of and well be okay.
