No. 4 Garfield whipped No. 3 Marysville-Pilchuck Thursday morning 74-53, but the Tomahawks still have a chance to place at state at the Tacoma Dome.

M-P will play Friday at 9 a.m. If they win they play at 8 a.m. Saturday for fourth or sixth place.

Garfield jumped out to a 20-7 first-period lead, but M-P went on a 9-0 run to make it 20-16 after a 3-pointer by Luke Dobler.

But then the Bulldogs regained control to lead 34-23 at the break.

But then the Bulldogs had another huge advantage 21-8 in the third to blow open the game at 55-31.

The Tommies finally got their offense going in the fourth but it was too little too late.

No. 12 Lakewood jumped out to a 16-10 lead after the first quarter but No. 4 Lindbergh took control in the second period on the way to a 68-57 win at the 2A Hardwood Classic Wednesday at the Yakima SunDome. 

Lakewood, making its first Hardwood Classic appearance, ended its season 15-10.

Alex Jensen, the school’s all-time leading scorer, paced the Cougars with 18 points, and Morgan Stacey chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Lakewood had a tough shooting day, making just 19 of 60 shots, or 32%, while Lindbergh was 25 of 45, or 56%. The Cougars made just 4 of 27 from three-point land, while the winners were 7 of 12.

The Cougs played tough on defense forcing 16 turnovers and getting 7 steals.
