The M-P cross country team finished their season in fine fashion Saturday, Nov. 4 at the 4A state championships.
The Lady Tomahawk harriers placed 10th out of 16 teams with 247 points at Pascos Sun Willows Golf Course.
Freshman Kaylie Kimmell led the charge on the 5K (3.1-mile) course with a 38th place (20:08) out of 147 total harriers.
Sophomores Lauren Ainsworth came in 62nd in 20:37 and Marissa Schafer 82nd in 21:03.
Juniors Kylie Martonik (21:17) and Haley Nemra (21:21) came in 99th and 100th, respectively.
Senior Megan Crenshaw, the only member of the class of 2007 on the squad, came in 129th in 21:53 and junior Robin Mueller finished three places and four seconds later.
Coach Randy Edens said the Lady Tomawks have been represented at the state competition six of the last nine years.
It was a good meet and a fun year, he said.
We will return six of our top-7 and hope to get a couple of eighth-graders. Our young ones get a chance to grow up a little bit more. We were shooting for somewhere between sixth and eight place, but its a race where you cant really settle.
He added that the coaching staff and team would love to make the trip to state an annual event.
On the boys side we are still pretty young. With boys its just a matter of them getting older and stronger . We have some things that are in order and hopefully we can continue to get better on both sides.
