Head Shaving

Be careful what you ask for, you just may get it. Willie Wiersma, defensive coordinator of the 9- and10-year-old Arlington Blue Midgets football team, may be saying that to himself after having his head shaved Friday, Oct. 27.

Be careful what you ask for, you just may get it. Willie Wiersma, defensive coordinator of the 9- and10-year-old Arlington Blue Midgets football team, may be saying that to himself after having his head shaved Friday, Oct. 27.
The Blue Midgets won their first playoff game 26-0 Saturday, Oct. 28.
Wiersma told his squad early in the season that if they went undefeated he would have his head shaved and they could all autograph his shiny top.
After going 8-0 in the regular season, Wiersma took a chair at Magic Shears and owner Randy Howell proceeded to shear away weeks of growth.
This was the worst idea Ive ever had, Wiersma jokingly said upon exiting the chair and paying the $15 dollar haircut fee. With all joking aside, he said his first time with a completely shaved head actually feels great.
The entire team and their parents crowded around Howell both inside the store and watched with video cameras from the sidewalk peering through the windows.
