The Cougars hardwood boys team found out firsthand why Kings was the 2006 2A state runner-up.
Lakewoods normally high-powered offense was seemingly put on mute by Kingss Friday, Jan. 5, in a 58-32 league loss on the road.
The loss evened the Cougars league record at 1-1, and 4-4 overall. Kings is an unblemished 3-0, 6-0.
Coach Ron Thorvilson said his squad definitely had their share of opportunities, but were unable to capitalize on them.
We had some looks. We were 9-for-36 from 2-point range and got the looks, Thorvilson said.
They (Kings) played great defense. Going into the game we hadnt played against any 6-foot-10 inch guys. They pretty much packed us and we werent hitting the necessary shots.
