MARYSVILLE -Marysville Police are investigating a collision that has resulted in serious injuries to a 10-year-old Marysville girl.

Just after 4:30 p.m. March 10, police responded to the scene in the 7900 block of 80th Ave. where it was reported a vehicle had struck the girl while she was riding her bicycle.

Police learned the vehicle was traveling southbound on 80th Ave. NE when the girl rode her bicycle between two parked vehicles into the path of the oncoming car.

The girl suffered severe head injuries and was subsequently airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where she is listed in critical condition. She was not wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the accident.

Collision Investigation Team members were on-scene to conduct the investigation, during which time the roadway was closed to traffic. It has since been reopened.

“At this time we have no reason to believe that driving conditions, speed, or drugs or alcohol played any role in this accident. It, sadly, appears to be that the young girl rode her bike straight into traffic and the driver had no time to react,” according to Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux of the Marysville Police Department.
