MARYSVILLE Theres a huge lump of coal for someones stocking later this month.
Thats the word from B.J. Smith, manager of Glenwood Mobile Estates, where some Grinch vandalized the big guys sleigh and reindeer display.
The park office had installed a large Christmas display of the jolly one and his ride, complete with lights and other decorations. Someone went to town on the display, kicking and battering the plastic and metal figures around the park driveway.
It seems like they were having a good time, Smith said.
But who would want to mess with Santa?
Thats what we were wondering, Smith laughed. This time of year you dont want to make Santa mad.
Seriously, Smith was concerned that there might be more vandalism to follow and so he called Marysville police, who took a report and made extra patrols. Smith said this type of thing has happened a couple of times before.
It was a little worse this time and were hoping they wont be back, he said. We were getting concerned it might escalate.
He thanked Marysville police for the patrols in the park off of 64th Street NE.
That first night we saw them, and we really appreciated it.
Marysville Police Department spokesman Ralph Krusey said that Christmastime usually brings out some sort of vandalism, but not as drastic as the mobile home park suffered. Each year the department gets reports of manger abuse, where the baby Jesus is stolen from nativity scenes, and then transferred from site to site around town. Its rare that a decoration is destroyed, according to Krusey, but police have to take a theft report because the owners are missing their property.
