MARYSVILLE The old barn on 67th Avenue NE will stay, but the house next to Kellogg Marsh Elementary School is history.
Vandals repeatedly broke into the house and caused damage, so property owner Bethlehem Lutheran Church decided to demolish the structure, according to spokesman Roy Wenzel.
Were tearing it down for safety purposes, Wenzel said. You can put all the no trespassing signs up that you can, but it does no good. It takes away temptation.
The 20-acre plot was donated to the 1,400-member church by the late Marysville attorney George Bly Wilcox, who stipulated in his will that the pastureland must be used for either a public park or a Christian school. Wenzel said the church will eventually build a school, starting with grades kindergarten to three, and then adding higher grades as time goes by to at least eighth grade. The school could possibly host high school grades, but Wenzel said that would be in the distant future.
Weve got a lot of ideas of what we can do with that, he added. That will take a few years to get that done.
He didnt know how big the building would be, saying church members have about 55 different ideas they are considering. Permits have not been applied for and plans have not been worked up so far.
