EVERETT — WorkSource Snohomish County is hosting a resource fair on Tuesday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.** at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave in Everett.

Lending a Hand Up is a resource fair aimed at the more than 2,500 Snohomish County residents who have exhausted or will exhaust their Unemployment Insurance Benefits by the end of June. The fair is open to the public as well.

“We are reaching a critical tipping point in our community,” explains Sue Ambler, President/CEO of Workforce Development Council Snohomish County (WDCSC), which oversees the WorkSource Snohomish County system. “As more and more people run out of Unemployment Insurance, the need around us will rise. People need access to resources for food, rent assistance, health services, and more. And that’s what this fair is about.”

Representatives from agencies throughout the county will be available to share information about their services including assistance with utilities, housing, childcare, and job search.

“WorkSource Snohomish County is mobilizing in a way that is not new to us, but may be new to members of our community who haven’t used our services before,” explains Amy Persell of WDCSC. “With this event we hope to draw in a wide range of our community to learn about—and benefit from—the vast network of resources available to them through our one-stop employment resources centers.”

**Pre-registation is required for this no-cost event. Register for the 9 a.m. to noon or the 1 – 3:30 p.m. session at www.worksourceonline.com.
