MARYSVILLE — Just after 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, Marysville Police responded to a bank robbery that had just occurred. Opus Bank, located in the 800 block of State Avenue in Marysville, notified police of the robbery and provided them with the direction in which the robber had fled. The suspect had been seen running down an alley behind a motel located across the street.

An officer responding to the area observed an open back window on one of the motel rooms. When he drove around to the front of the motel, he observed a man smoking outside of the room with the open back window. The door to the room then opened, and the officer observed a younger man standing in the doorway naked. As the officer drove near the room, the door closed. The officer was not able to contact the individual immediately, due to a K-9 track being conducted in the area. Once the K-9 track was completed, the officer and a partner made contact at the motel room. The officers made contact with the subject who had been naked in the doorway earlier. The subject was now wearing pants. When officers asked him to remove his hands from his pants pockets, they observed his hands were covered in dye from a dye pack that he had been handed by the bank. He admitted to officers that he was responsible for the bank robbery, and was subsequently arrested.

The 36-year-old suspect will be booked into the Snohomish County Jail for the robbery.
