MARYSVILLE — Just after 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, Marysville Police responded to a report of a stabbing that had just taken place in a wooded area in the 11200 block of 41st Drive in Marysville.

The victim, a 46-year-old transient, indicated to police that he had gone into the woods to locate a known subject who had taken $100 from him the week before. He stated that when he told the man he wanted his money, the man came at him and stabbed him in the chest, then tried to stab him again. The victim and the acquaintance with him left the area and called 911.

As officers arrived in the area and made contact with the victim, they observed a subject riding a bicycle away from the area, wearing clothes that matched the description provided by the victim. When the victim was asked by officers, he advised them that the man on the bike was the subject who had stabbed him.

Officers took the suspect, a 44-year-old known transient, into custody at gunpoint. He will be transported to and booked into the Snohomish County Jail for first-degree assault.

The victim sustained a non-life-threatening stab wound to his chest. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical attention.

“We are fortunate the injuries were not life-threatening,” Marysville Police Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said. “A couple of inches in either direction, and we could be investigating a homicide.”
