MARYSVILLE — Dennis Warren has been big into holiday light decorations for 14 years, and during his three years in Marysville, he’s come to be known as “the Christmas lights guy” by neighbors and visitors alike.

This holiday season has only been his second year of synching his lights up to music, though, and those who want to see it for themselves can check out his final light show of the season, from 5-11:45 p.m., Dec. 31, at his home, located at 7513 72nd Dr. NE.

“During the year, I pick out songs that I want to play during the holidays, and I load them into a program called Light-O-Rama,” Warren said. “I have lights all over the roof and throughout the yard, and I map out various groupings and strands of those lights to choreograph their flashing in time to the music. It takes about six to 10 hours to program the lights per every minute of music.”

This year’s light show has been set to a musical playlist lasting 16 and a half minutes, which includes an “opener” and six full songs. Warren noted that he’s already started picking out songs for next year, during which time he also plans to add more lights and break up his music to play different songs of different nights. This year’s show has been running nightly since Thanksgiving evening.

Warren conducts light shows for both Halloween and Christmas, and this year’s Christmas light show has helped raise $2,080 in cash and 675 pounds of canned food goods for Volunteers of America, who placed a collection barrel at his house.

“The best part is watching the kids’ expressions of awe,” Warren said. “This entire cul-de-sac participates in the spirit of Christmas. It’s not just about us. It takes the whole neighborhood to bring joy to the folks that pass through.”

Warren has a Web site for his holiday lights, but he expects to move to his own domain host sometime next year.
