MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Kiwanis Club is inviting the community to a special concert showcasing the area’s hottest young performers and musicians, while raising funds for student scholarships.

The Kenneth J. Ploeger Kiwanis Memorial Scholarship Concert will be presented at 7 p.m. on May 22 in the Marysville-Pilchuck High School auditorium, located at 5611 108th St. The scholarship fund was named by the Ploeger family in memory of Ken, a longtime dedicated Kiwanian, retired Navy electronics technician and city of Marysville employee who believed in the value of scholarships for students entering a vocational trade or career. Ploeger passed away in August of 2007.

The lineup of young talent includes the Marysville Jazz Band, the Vocal Ensemble and the Totem Middle School Marimba.

This concert will benefit Marysville students with technology or skills scholarships for classes or community college credits that prepare them for employment in the public sector, according to Marysville Kiwanis Concert Coordinator Penny Ploeger, Ken’s widow.

Tickets for the event will be $10 for adults, $5 for students and $15 for families. Tickets will not be sold in advance, but will instead only be available at the door on the night of the concert.

For more information or to order tickets, call 360-653-3646.

Donations of canned goods or other non-perishable food items for the Marysville Community Food Bank would be appreciated.
