Just tagging along

The headlines shout the real story. Sony leads solar-cell production; Toyota number one in world car sales; environmentally based new jobs in Germany top 170,000; thousands of Chinese produced CFLs saving money for American households; Germany leading the world in wind power production; California takes strong action to cut carbon dioxide emission.

All of these events are being spurred by the rising cost of fossil fuel energy and the growing recognition that we must change our improvident ways. However, as you noticed, most of them are taking place overseas. Our current administration remains in a head-in-the-sand posture on this issue and on so many others.
Fortunately, many ordinary people, understanding their own contribution to global climate change are seeking to make their own changes. But as you see above, from CFLs to more efficient cars to wind or other alternative energy sources, they cannot buy American in their desire to improve their energy footprint. What a shame that our corporations and political leaders, perhaps blinded by the wealth they have gotten from coal, oil, etc., have failed to see the golden opportunity for a cleaner and more sustainable and probably more peaceful world lies around the bend. A road to a better, brighter, healthier future. Too bad we arent leading the essential reform rather than just tagging along.
