Theres a reason why Chief Tom Greene has the best resume out of the candidates for Snohomish County Sheriff, and its not merely because hes been behind a desk his entire career.
Greene spent most of his career out in the field. He has more years as a cop in uniform, on the streets, than the street cop candidate has even been in law enforcement. He was a detective, a team leader for hostage negotiations and a patrol commander.
And yes, he also has far more administrative experience than the other candidates. He knows how to handle a multi-million-dollar budget, as hes been doing it for more than a decade. His incomparable combined experience in uniform and in administration, his experience for more than 20 years as an instructor and his graduation from the FBI National Academy, are all reasons why police chiefs and sheriffs from all over Washington and beyond people who know what the job takes have endorsed Chief Greene.
He knows, far better than the other candidates, what it takes to run the sheriffs department and how to get it done. If a crisis occurs, I dont want to be wondering if the sheriff will be up to the challenge: I want to have confidence that he knows exactly what to do and that he will get it done.
But not only is he the best man for the job for the experiences, the qualifications and the ability he brings but he also has as much integrity and character as anyone I know and he has a true desire to do whatever is in his power to protect the citizens of Snohomish County.
And that is why I am supporting Chief Tom Greene for sheriff.
