I have been following your Community Report Card editorials with much interest over the past two weeks and I accept your challenge to weigh-in on this issue, particularly the Creativity Index section. Specifically you asked, Is the library checking out more books or fewer? This key question goes right to the heart of the Marysville Community and its interest in education and life-long learning. And Im happy to report that the answer is an enthusiastic yes. Marysville is reading more.
As my term as Fire District 19 Commissioner comes to an end, I would like to thank the people of the Silvana community for their support over the past 36 years. I am proud to have been able to serve the neighbors and friends of our small community.
After I had a conversation with my granddaughter this past weekend about the Patriot Act, I would like to submit to you these thoughts.
I am writing in support of Don Wlazlak for Position 2, Marysville School Board. Don has been an avid supporter of education issues in this community for many years. He has worked on levy and bond campaigns which benefit all the children in our schools.
Election day is Tuesday. Nov. 6. I look forward to receiving my ballot in the next two weeks in my mailbox. Snohomish County has adopted 100 percent vote by mail. Make sure your voice is heard.
As our community grows, Cascade Valley Hospital needs to expand and upgrade certain services or it will not survive.
I have lived in Arlington most of my life and I cant imagine our town without Cascade Valley Hospital and the services it has provided for so many years. However, it is time for these services to be up-graded and we now have the opportunity to make that possible on May 15 by voting Yes on Proposition 1.
My wife and I have been privileged to live and work in this great community that we were both born and raised in. A large part of the draw that keeps us here in Arlington is the quality of life that we all share. Our community provides us with great schools, hospital and medical services, city government, police and fire, parks, etc., that allows us a sense of ownership. Cascade Valley Hospital is a key and important part of the mix that we all call our neighborhood. Aside from providing excellent medical services, the hospital district brings over four hundred jobs to our area.
I am writing in strong support of the Cascade Valley Hospital facility Bond proposal.

For 26 years Arlington has had a thrift store named Helping Hands. People helping people. The store takes donations from the community then sells them back by the bag full.
The Charley Rose show on PBS, Feb. 13, featured Richard Branson. Branson, British entrepreneur and idea-man was discussing the dismal reality of global warming and the critical need to act to halt or slow its effects. As part of his discussion, he threw out a fact which, to me at least, was astonishing.
