M-P (mostly) puts MG on its back (slide show)

MARYSVILLE – Marysville-Pilchuck completed dominated Marysville Getchell in a wrestling match Friday night, winning 57-18.

But two of the most-competitive matches were won by MG.

For instance, at 145 pounds, Trey Padgett of MG and Isaiah Galindo of M-P battled back and forth for three rounds. It was tied 0-0 after one round then Galindo managed an escape in Round 2 to make it 1-0. Padgett got his own escape, and then earned a takedown with three seconds left to win 3-1.

Another competitive match came in the 182-pound bout. Shane Reichlin of M-P and P.J. Galindo battled to a 3-3 tie in an exciting first round. They continued to battle back and forth in the second round until Richlin put Galindo on his back with just seven seconds remaining.

MG won a forfeit at 106 pounds, and Devon Rose beat Mauro Bejar at 160 pounds 10-5 for the only other points scored by the Chargers.

The Tomahawks pretty much had their way in every other match.

Devin Fahlman started things off by pinning Skyler Elliott of MG with nine seconds left in the first round in the 152-pound matchup.

At 170, Cayden White of M-P easily beat Caleb Blonk, pinning him with 48 seconds left in Round 1.

At 195, Corbin Bonner of MG put up a good fight against Ikaika Nawelhi. It was 0-0 after one and the Tomahawk led just 3-0 after two rounds. But with only three seconds left in the match, however, Nawelhi came up with the pin.

Adam Holstein impressively pinned Vincent Tran of MG at 220 pounds, doing it in just 16 seconds. Holstein came out of the chute, picked up Tran and threw him down on the mat, and that was that.

Joe Lawrence of M-P was almost as dominant at 285 pounds, pinning Elias Durham with only 31 seconds left in the first round.

At 113 pounds, M-P continued its fast-pinning streak as Cole Daurie put a cradle move on Joel Foster and rocked him for a pin in just 57 seconds.

It took Tanner Lauzon at little bit longer at 120 pounds, pinning Miguel Garcia-Ramirez with 49 seconds remaining in the second period after only leading 2-0 after one.

At 126 pounds, Austin Davis of M-P toyed with Steven Grier of MG. Davis consistently picked Grier up and slammed him down to the mat. So much so that he kept letting Grier escape so he could do it again. The Tommie led 11-3 after Round 1 and almost pinned the Charger a few times. He led by so much the match was called a technical fall after two rounds.

In the match at 132 pounds, Nic Cantu led 5-2 after one, 10-2 after two and the final was 15-4 over Tanner Condon of MG.

At 138 pounds, Baily Alvis of M-P was having a tough match with Jesus Cabadas. But Cabadas didn’t have time to even know what happened as Alvis got a quick reversal and then a pin with 38 seconds remaining in the first period.
