M-P girls lose, boys win; others don’t do well

MARYSVILLE – The Marysville-Pilchuck girls basketball team lost to Sehome at home Wednesday night 59-29.

The boys were on the road, and they beat Sehome 80-73 behind sophomore guard Luke Dobler’s 30 points.

In other boys scores, Juanita beat Arlington 62-45 and Tulalip Heritage edged M.V. Christian 43-41.

Three other local girls teams also lost: Arlington to Lake Stevens 55-34, Marysville Getchell to Blanchet 51-6 and Tulalip Heritage to M.V. Christian 57-41.

For the M-P girls, Madison Baxter led the way with 10 points, and Mary Moses contributed eight.

Helping out Dobler for the M-P boys were RaeQuan Battle with 24 points and 17 rebounds, and Aaron Kalab with 13 points. The Tomahawks jumped out to a 28-15 lead, but slumped during the middle two quarters, falling behind 60-58 after three periods. But they caught fire again in the fourth to take the win.

Jaren Carey led the Eagles in their loss, with Ayodele Aribibonla and Griffin Gardoski getting nine apiece.

Peyton Brown did not score for the Arlington girls in their loss. Hailey Hiatt had 11 and Josie Stupey eight.
