Local track teams to be well-represented at state

SHORELINE – Gabriel Green and Sidney Trinidad both qualified for three events at state for Arlington while competing in the 3A District 1 Championships

at Shoreline Stadium Friday.

State is Thursday through Saturday at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

Green placed first in the javelin, second in the discus and fourth in the shot put to lead the Eagle boys to the team title with 103.5 points, 20.5 points ahead of second-place Shorecrest. Marysville-Pilchuck and Marysville Getchell tied for 12th with 11 points each.

Green tossed the javelin 170 feet, 11 inches; the discus 145 feet, 8 inches; and the shot 46 feet, 3.5 inches. Trinidad won both the 100 and 300 hurdles, in 14.65 seconds and 44.3 seconds; and also was on the 4×100 relay team that placed third with a clocking of 50.31 seconds. The Eagles girls were third overall with 72 points. Edmonds-Woodway won with 116, M-P was seventh with 45 and MG 10th with 34.

Arlington hurdler Campbell Hudson qualified in two events, placing second in the 110 in 14.94 and third in the 300 in 41.37.

Arlington had three other boys qualify for state.

•3200—2, Kevin Mullin, 9:37.56.

•300 hurdles—2, Seth-Patric Quizmon, 40.95 •400—4, Nicholas Mendro, 52.47

For the Marysville schools, qualifying for state were: •800—3, Gregory Panther (MG) 1:58.34.

•Triple jump—3, Jared Narag (MP) 41-3.5.

For the girls, Kiarra Green stood out for MG winning the 200 meters in 26.17 seconds and placing second in the 100, behind Trina Davis of M-P with a time of 12.19 seconds. Gabriella Crenshaw of M-P was fourth in the 200. Reilly Kesselring of Arlington won the high jump with a leap of 5-foot-1. Teammate Juliette Williams was second in the 400 at 1 minute, .15 seconds. And in the 800 meters Kelsey Mutton placed third in 2:19.45.

Local schools were dominant the girls relays.
