MARYSVILLE After Stanwood staged a seventh-inning comeback to defeat the Tomahawk baseball team 9-8 in Stanwood April 3, M-P came back like a team with something to prove, defeating the Spartans 8-3 at home, with seven runs coming in the sixth inning.
Senior Allison Pascoe won her first match as a singles player in two sets, 6-4, 6-3, to help lead the Marysville girls tennis team to its first team victory when the Tomahawks hosted Arlington April 3.
OAK HARBOR It was a good week for the M-P soccer team as the boys defeated Arlington 2-0 at home April 2 and followed it up with another 2-0 win two nights later in Oak Harbor.
The Lakewood Cougars volleyball team had plenty of chances to win their Oct. 16 match with the Granite Falls Tigers. They held leads in all five games but could not finish off their opponents when Granite was vulnerable. After staging a remarkable comeback to level the set score 2-2, the Cougars fell in five sets 24-26, 24-26, 25-19, 25-18, 8-15.
Senior Amanda Nunley has been a workhorse for the Lakewood Cougar soccer team all season. Her determined style in the midfield frees up the players around her to make spectacular plays, knowing they can rely on the relentless pressure of Nunley to cover for them in defense.

MARYSVILLE In one of the largest meets of its kind, the M-P junior varsity wrestling team won the Marysville JV Classic.
The Lakewood boys basketball team got their first win of the young season in thrilling fashion Dec. 14 with a league win over the Sultan Turks 78-70. It took bonus basketball to decide the game after everything was tied 64-64 after 32 minutes.
The Marysville-Pilchuck girls took advantage of Everett and Stanwood teams, dispatching them both on their way to a 2-1 league record after losing the conference opener to Snohomish.
The Tomahawk wrestling team split a pair of close matches, falling to Everett Dec. 11 but beating Stanwood on the road two days later.
M-P girls golf gears up for districts
Going undefeated in the regular season shouldnt be an easy task, but the Tomahawk JV baseball coach Ryan Gilbertson describes his teams 19-0 season that way.
LAKEWOOD Lakewood senior goalkeeper Peter Karrenberg proved worthy of the Superman-inspired design on his jersey when he entered the goal in overtime and helped the Cougars defeat Lynden in a shootout.
