LAKEWOOD In a defensive staring match, the Lakewood baseball team held South Whidbey to a three-run tie from the fifth inning until the 10th, when the Cougars finally blinked and Falcon Lucas Yale ran in the first of two game-ending runs March 28 to hand Lakewood a 5-3 loss.

Thanks particularly to the heavy lifting of a corps of athletes on the girls side of the Marysville-Pilchuck track team, the Tomahawks handily defeated the visiting Cascade and Stanwood teams at Quil Ceda Stadium March 29.
MARYSVILLE The Marysville fastpitch team hosted Lake Stevens March 29 and what proved a close match-up went an extra inning before Lake Stevens Jordan Rumsey batted in the decisive run in the eighth to hand M-P a 4-3 loss and an 0-4 record in Wesco North play.
