M-P swim and dive team has successful and busy week

M-P placed 11th out of 30 teams at the Mukilteo Invite Saturday, Sept. 30 at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.
M-P head coach Jaci Legore-Hodgins said the highlight of the meet was sophomore Kami Girard qualifying for 4A state in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.63.
Girard has now qualified for state in three events the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard backstroke.
The M-P divers performed six dives and tallied 59 points toward the team total.
Freshman Sarah Clark was third overall with a score of 178.85.
Friday, Sept. 29 was the first zone dive meet for M-P at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo.
Junior Trang Vu was second overall and qualifed for state with a score of 319.50.
Clark was right behind her teammate with 313.45 points.
Thursday, Sept. 28 saw M-P defeat 3A Wesco North opponent Everett 90-65 at the M-PHS pool.
Legore-Hodgins said senior Becky Corle won the prize for dropping the most time and having the best meet.
Corle finished fifth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:25.84 and third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:19.93.
Freshman Megan Shoemaker began the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle in a personal best time fo 2:21.01.
Girard won the 200 individual medley in 2:17.39.
Junior Trang Vu won the one meter diving with 119.40 points.
Junior Michaela Caldwell swam to a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:12.16.
