The Tomahawk girls fastpitch is arguably one of the hottest teams going into the district tournament. With four consecutive wins to close out the regular season, including a 1-0 win over top-seeded Monroe, M-P climbed out from a disappointing early season record to Wesco North’s third seed at 9-7, where they are bracketed against the South’s second seed, Mountlake Terrace. Win or lose against the Hawks, the Tomahawks are facing back-to-back games at Monroe’s Skyriver Park when districts open May 15, where they’ll go on to face an opponent from the Monroe-Kamiak game also scheduled at 3 p.m.

If Marysville wins both games May 15, they’ll automatically earn a spot in the state tournament and play for seeding May 17. If split the day, they can keep their state hopes alive with two wins on the 17th. It would be the girls’ first trip to state since 2004.

On May 6, M-P won 4-1 at Arlington and 16-6 on senior night against Oak Harbor the night after to secure the Tomahawks’ playoff berth.
