The Marysville girls golf teams sole freshman, Stasia Ashley, had an outstanding game when Arlington hosted teams from M-P, Oak Harbor and Lake Stevens at the Glenn Eagle Golf Course March 29.
Ashley, who had been ranked as the teams sixth golfer, led her teammates and contributed 20 of the teams 78 points to narrowly edge rival team Lake Stevens for second place.
We had lost to Lake Stevens twice, so it was nice to beat them this time, even if it was by one, head coach Jaci Legore Hodgins said, as M-Ps win put them behind first-place Oak Harbors 85 points, but ahead of the Vikings and the host team.
Girls golf plays under the Stableford scoring system in which a player is given a higher point total for coming in at or under par.
Stasia has been taking golf lessons on Sundays. So kudos to Stasia for taking her work home with lessons. Shes on a mission to get better, Legore Hodgins said. She added that by finishing ahead of her teammates, Ashley will be ranked number one when the girls travel to Mountlake Terrace April 9, putting her up against each teams best players.
And all of our players came in with double digits which is a success for us, Legore Hodgins said.

Stasia Ashley 20 points
Tierney Winston 16
Sara Rott 16
Taylor Ashton 14
Brielle Saunders 12
Cathi Brown 10
M-P total 78
