Praise and raze (Sept. 23)

Praise to Marysville police for making an arrest in the killing of Robbie Myrick Jr.

Raze that it took some time to make an arrest. That was disturbing to the community.

Praise to the Lakewood community for approving the money to build a new high school. What an amazing facility.

Praise to Arlington for looking at its crystal ball and seeing that the legalization of marijuana could be a boon to the city, rather than a detriment of increasing crime, etc.

Praise to the Tulalip Tribes for setting such a good example environmentally by installing solar panels at its early learning academy. Even more praise go to the tribes for promising to continue to use solar for power in more buildings in the future.

Praise and congratulations go to the Red Curtain Foundation of the Arts for finishing up its new theater. It’s been a long, tough hall, but the community will be better for it.

Praise to Arlington Christian School for the great example it sets for its students. It’s refreshing to know the area has such wonderful private schools as an option to public schools for those who can afford it.

Praise to the cities of Marysville and Arlington for continuing your ceremonies to remember 9-11. The only way to learn from history is to remember it.

Praise to Arlington and Marysville police and firefighters for all they do.

Raze it took a 9-11 for people to really start to appreciate it.

Praise to Arlington and Marysville teachers for settling negotiations so school could start on time. Any strikes would have disrupted so many lives.

Praise to the Arlington and Marysville school districts for having such smooth starts to their years. That’s not always been the case historically, but planning procedures and estimations of enrollment have gotten so much better.

Praise to the Lakewood girls soccer team for getting off to such a fast start. That has got to be a great feeling after being down for so long.

Praise to places like NOAH that take in animals during disasters so that shelters in those areas can take in stray animals. Since they stay close to home, they have a better chance of being recovered by their owners.

Praise to Take Back Our Community – S. Marysville for helping the city and schools to keep their facilities picked up. That type of volunteerism is what makes this area so great.

Praise to Marysville United Methodist Church for becoming all-inclusive, so that everyone feels welcome and safe. And praise for their Miracle House, which is helping homeless men get back on their feet.

Raze that more churches haven’t stepped up yet – but we know they will.

Praise to the city of Marysville for finishing up the Ebey Waterfront Trail under the Highway 529 bridge. That will make it so much safer for users.

Raze to drug dealers who terrorize neighborhoods. Don’t go away mad, just go away.

Praise to Kyle Moseley and his family for rescuing a young girl from the Stilly River. You are true heroes.

Praise to Marysville for its annual Touch a Truck event. It’s so fun to see kids still being kids.
