Praise and raze

(for March 10)

Praise to the Tulalip Tribes for studying a possible indoor water park, similar in size to Wild Waves. A much-smaller version, Great Wolf Lodge south of Olympia, brings in tourists from all over the Northwest. Such an attraction would solidify our area as a tourist destination.

Raze if it does eventually happen and the infrastructure is not in to support it. Just the talk of it has brought traffic concerns.

Praise to the governor for vetoing the Public Records Act changes.

Raze to the lawmakers, especially our local ones, for trying to avoid being held accountable.

Praise to Marysville Getchell students who held a community rally in support of safe schools. They are empowered to make a difference.

Praise to police for tracking down the four criminals involved in killing an Arlington man in Marysville. Raze to those stealing from the Arlington Airport.

Raze to the court system for not being able to bring justice for Robert Myrick Jr.’s family.

Praise to Army Reserves for being good role models for Shoultes kids.

Praise to all the high school athletes who competed this winter. You made our communities proud. Special congratulations to those who made it to state.

Praise to Maryfest volunteers for their work on the Strawberry Festival float. Praise to the PUD for putting in a Clean Energy Tech Center in the Arlington area.

Praise to Marysville voters for passing their two school levies.

Raze that the Arlington bonds didn’t pass. But 55 percent is a great showing. We think that should be the mark to pass bonds anyway.

Praise for Marysville-Pilchuck for again hosting the Josten’s conference for young leaders. Praise to Marysville police for getting the high-tech FARO Laser Scanner to speed up investigations and provide much-needed forensic evidence.

Praise to the Early Childhood Education Assistance Programs in Arlington and Marysville for help getting low-income kids ready for school.

Praise to the M-P and MG Hi-Q teams for having such solid seasons.

Praise to the local athletes who signed letters of intent to play sports in college. Congratulations.

Praise to our weekend warriors who were recently called to duty to serve in the Middle East. We are proud of you all. It’s a great sacrifice your families make.

Thanks to Puget Sound Pediatric Dentistry-Marysville for donating efforts to help children of low-income families on Give Kids A Smile day.

Praise to the cities of Marysville and Arlington for putting on such wonderful events for their communities as the Father-Daughter Dances.

Praise to Arlington and Marysville for their involvement in setting up a fire academy closer to home.

Praise to MG’s Future Business Leaders of America Chapter for fixing up Jennings Park for their annual Community Service Project.
