New additions make our Web sites even better by Scott Frank Managing Editor

As we continue to work to improve the print editions of The Marysville Globe and The Arlington Times, we are also working to improve our Web sites.

As we continue to work to improve the print editions of The Marysville Globe and The Arlington Times, we are also working to improve our Web sites.

If you’ve visited www.arlingtontimes.com and www.marysvilleglobe.com recently, you may have noticed some of those improvements.

We have added a new feature which allows visitors to the sites to comment on any of the stories, editorials or letters to the editor. We invite the public to take advantage of this new opportunity to become involved in the community dialogue.

We do ask that all comments be civil, smart, on-topic and free from profanity. We also ask that if you see a comment that doesn’t meet our community standards, you can use the “Flag” button beneath each comment which will bring it to an administrator’s attention.

We believe the commenting is a great way to expand the dialogue about important issue which affect our communities and encourage everyone to participate.

Another new feature we’ve added is video reports. For example, this week the Web sites feature video reports which accompany the stories on the M-P swim and dive team at state, and the Health and Wellness Fair at Arlington’s Body and Mind Fitness studio.

At a minimum, we’ll be adding one news and one sports video to each Web site every week. We’ll also be featuring some Web-only videos that won’t correspond to a story in the print editions.

Another improvement we’ve added is we’ve expanded the local advertisements on the Web sites. During these tough economic times it’s important that we support the businesses in our communities by shopping locally. Click on one of the buttons, banners or sky-scrapers and you be directed to more information about the local business.
