Water restored in M’ville; run faucets cold to clear dirty water

MARYSVILLE – Many residents in the vicinity of State Avenue and 100th Street were without water this morning when a water main broke.

MARYSVILLE – Temporary fixes have been made so residents now have water.

Many residents in the vicinity of State Avenue and 100th Street were without water this morning when a water main broke.

Public Works employees shut down water to the break to isolate the broken pipe section, as well as reopen the roadway.

The cause of the break was unknown, said Gloria Hirashima, chief administrative officer for the city.

Businesses from the 9600 block of State Avenue to 100th Street NE were without water, as were was the Brookside mobile home park and its residents.

The water has been rerouted, and all customers are back in service. City crews will be out this evening flushing water mains in an effort to remove any remaining dirty water caused by the main break. If customers experience dirty or cloudy water, they are encouraged to run their cold water faucets for several minutes to help clear their service lines. Customers being served by the temporary piping system may continue to experience reduced water pressure in their home or business until the permanent repairs are made to the water main.
