Tulalip Elementary is currently working to form a new partnership that will bring students to school on Saturdays.
HOPE Worldwide is a non-profit organization that is headed by Zoe Strong who has implemented this program successfully with Native American students in Seattle. Strongs husband, Mack Strong, is a member of the Seattle Seahawks and serves as a spokesperson and strong supporter of this group. This collaborative effort is supported by the Tulalip Education Department, Tulalip Youth Services, Tulalip Boys and Girls Club and Tulalip Elementary.
We are very grateful to Mack and Zoe Strong for offering this exciting learning opportunity to our students, said Teresa Iyall, principal of Tulalip Elementary. One characteristic of a high performing school is to have effective school partnerships and this TEAM-WORKS Saturday Academy has promising potential to inspire our students to achieve at high levels.
The program called TEAM-WORKS Saturday Academy features on-line tutoring, athletic training with guest athletes, and a curriculum that focuses on character education. The first Saturday Academy will start at Tulalip Elementary School on Oct. 21. The program is designed to help fourth- and fifth-grade students achieve success in reading, math, health and character development.
The Saturday Academy kickoff assembly at Tulalip Elementary, featuring Seattle Seahawks fullback Mack Strong, Seahawk Mascot Blitz and Seagals, will begin at 1:45 p.m., Oct. 10, at the Tulalip Elementary cafeteria.
