Three locals named to All-State Youth Chorus

MARYSVILLE Three city residents have been selected for the Washington Music Educators Association All-State Youth Honor Chorus.

MARYSVILLE Three city residents have been selected for the Washington Music Educators Association All-State Youth Honor Chorus.
In total, 150 fifth- and sixth-graders were selected from across the state. Among them are Clare Cruz, a student at Sunnyside Elementary, and Raven Paull and Megan Peffer, both students at Totem Middle School.
The honor chorus will join together and practice Feb. 16 and the day will culminate with a performance at 4:30 p.m. in Yakimas Capital Theatre.
Described by the Educators Association as an internationally known conductor specializing in multiculturalism and childrens choirs, Mary Goetze of Indiana University will lead the chorus.
Well-known past participants in the All-State Chorus include Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist David Horsey; 2008 National Teacher of the Year Andrea Peterson; former Spokane County Sheriff Mark Sterk; and celebrity jazz saxophonist Kenny G.
