Road work on Grove causing backups

MARYSVILLE – For the next three months, you may want to avoid using Grove Street, at least the area near State Avenue.

Work began last week between State Avenue and 47th Avenue NE, but backups are evident today as there are flaggers directing traffic down to one lane.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane during working hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes, such as 76th Street NE. Work isn’t expected to conclude until the end of July. Many started doing that today when they saw the backups.

The project includes:

•1,250 feet of new 8-inch sewer line.

•New pedestrian ramps.

•Traffic signal improvements,

•Asphalt overlay.

•Road striping.
