Red Curtain goes up on new facility near Goodwill Oct. 1

MARYSVILLE – The Red Curtain Community Arts Center is all set to begin performances at its new location behind the Goodwill on State Avenue.

The center will open Oct. 1 with a fundraising auction and dinner, “Denim and Diamonds,” at 6 p.m. at 9215 State Ave. For details go to www.redcurtainfoundation.org.

On Oct. 8, it is having a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society called “Country Girls Sing The Blues.”

The music of Patsy Cline, Bonnie Raitt, Ella Fitzgerald, Susan Tedeschi and Dusty Springfield will be performed by Marcia Kester, Bev Cloer, Jenny Wiltse and Britta Grass.

The event starts at 8 p.m. at the center, 9315 State Ave. Call 360-322-7402 for ticket information.

The first play in the new facility will start Oct. 21 with the classic, “Arsenic and Old Lace.”

Other plays in the first season will include: “The Fantasticks,” “You Can’t Take It With You,” “Santa Claus Conquers The Martians,” “A Streetcar Named Desire,” and “Noises Off.”
