MARYSVILLE — A 50-year-old city resident suffered what police described as serious, but not life threatening injuries after an attack in the 1400 block of 172nd Street NE.

The incident apparently took place at a Shell gas station in the Lakewood area.

Police Comm. Ralph Krusey said officials received a 911 call regarding the attack about 5:40 p.m. Aug. 21. EMS crews also responded and the victim eventually was taken by helicopter to a local hospital.

According to Krusey, officers unsuccessfully searched the area for the suspect with police dogs. He had no information as to what led to the attack, but said there was reason to believe the incident was not random.

Krusey stated the victim was apparently attacked with a baseball bat.
