MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Fire District is commemorating the retirement of Battalion Chief Rex Tucker, who has served with the fire district for 41 years, beginning as a volunteer in March of 1973. Tucker was hired as a career firefighter in 1980, and worked his way through the ranks to chief officer.
MARYSVILLE — Last year, Fallyn Gentry decided to celebrate her 10th birthday by asking her family and friends to give gifts to those facing greater needs then herself, and her birthday party at the Marysville Community Food Bank generated 459 pounds of food and an estimated $100 in cash for the local nonprofit charity.

MARYSVILLE — Quilceda Community Services, a non-profit corporation in Marysville, provides residential care and a recreation program for those with special needs, and the agency is seeking volunteers for fundraising events, as well as to staff its thrift store and assist at Willow Place, its specialized recreation day program.
MARYSVILLE — Incoming Marysville Police Officer Kelly Pitts proved to be a man of few words during his swearing-in ceremony on Monday, March 17, saying only, “It’s an honor to be here,” but his fellow Marysville Police officers had plenty to say about the law enforcement veteran, who came to the Marysville Police Department through a lateral entry from the Monroe Police Department.
MARYSVILLE — Mayor Jon Nehring recently presented a city employee with a “Dare to Soar” Innovative Service Award for efforts that led to significant energy cost savings at the Marysville Waste Water Treatment Plant.
Although the library of Shoultes Elementary suffered significant water damage in the wake of burst pipes just before winter break, the Marysville School District and Cobra Construction expect to have the impacted library space open for business later this spring.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring and Marysville City Council members joined other Washington state officials, as part of an estimated 2,000 local leaders from across the country, at the annual Congressional City Conference from March 8-12 in Washington, D.C.
MARYSVILLE — Marysville Police detectives, with the assistance of the Department of Homeland Security and the Renton Police Department, arrested a 27-year-old Renton man in connection with a robbery that occurred in Marysville on Feb. 6. During the robbery, the suspect pointed a handgun at the occupants of a car, and identified himself as a law enforcement officer to gain compliance from the victims.
TULALIP — As of 2:31 p.m. on Friday, March 14, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and Marysville Fire Department are still on scene at the Battle Creek Golf Course investigating a death reported at around 1:20 p.m. The person who called 911 reported that there was a deceased person found on the 13th fairway of the golf course. At this time, the death is not believed to be suspicious.
MARYSVILLE — A two-tenths of a percent sales-tax measure that city officials say will pave the way for fixing roads, taking care of unmet transportation needs, and improving pedestrian and bicycle safety and access will go before Marysville voters on April 22.
