Volunteers to clean along Union Slough on Earth Day

MARYSVILLE — Looking to remove weeds in order to make way for healthier vegetation, People for Puget Sound and the Alderwood REI are sponsoring a clean-up event at the Union Slough restoration site in Marysville.

Work is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 19.

Organizers will provide all tools needed for weeding through the area, along with refreshments. Participants are urged to wear sturdy shoes or work boots and work clothes, as well as bring along a lunch and water bottle.

Rotary scholarship applications now available

MARYSVILLE — Marysville Rotary Club scholarship applications now are available online at www.marysvillerotary.org. Select “Education Foundation” to access the form. Scholarships are available to students who live or attend school within the Marysville or Lakewood school districts.

Applications are due on or before April 25.

‘Youth for Peace Rally’ set for April 19

MARYSVILLE — Sponsored by the Marysville Youth Action Network, the public is invited to an all-ages Youth for Peace Rally, noon to 1 p.m., April 19.

The event is slated for the intersection of State Avenue and Fourth Street in Marysville. Participants are invited to bring their own signs.
