Fire District to hold rummage sale
MARYSVILLE The Marysville Fire District Foundation will hold a fundraising rummage sale 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
May 16-17.
To find the sale, from 51st Avenue NE head east on 138th Street NE and follow the signs.
All proceeds will benefit fire activities with the Marysville and Lakewood school districts along with the fire district scholarship fund.
According to the fire district, items available will include furniture, small appliances, tools, collectibles, yard art, books and so on. Smoke detectors also will be available.

Fair housing seminar is June 5
MARYSVILLE Snohomish County and the city of Everett are among the sponsors of a fair housing seminar to be held 6:30-8:30 p.m., June 5, at the Marysville Public Library, 6120 Grove St.
Free and open to the public, the seminar will include topics such as landlord and renter rights and responsibilities along with key legal aspects of landlord/tenant and fair housing laws, including rules against discrimination.
Speakers and panelists will include LaDessa Croucher of the Volunteers of America Dispute Resolution Center, Michelle Railford of the Northwest Justice Project and Jennifer Greenlee of the Washington State Human Rights Commission.

Cats N Gardens Tour set for June 8
ARLINGTON A guided tour of eight gardens in the Marysville area is planned as a fundraiser for the Purrfect Pals Cat Shelter in Arlington.
The event is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 8.
The tour includes one garden featuring 400 feet of miniature railroad, a display once seen in Better Homes and Gardens. You also may see some 1,300 varieties of rhododendrons. A raffle is planned and participants also may make a bouquet of flowers for themselves.

Construction impacts park and ride
MARYSVILLE Construction aimed at widening 116th Street west of I-5 began May 5 and is expected to impact parking and access at the 116th Street Park and Ride, according to Community Transit.
The work is projected to continue until the end of July.
A partnership between the Tulalip Tribes and the Washington Department of Transportation, the work underway will add a second lane to 116th Street between the freeway and Quil Ceda Boulevard.
With the project in progress, the south portion of the park and ride will be closed. Buses will continue to serve the lot, however riders only will be able to access the parking lot from the north. Because 34th Avenue NE also will be closed during the construction, those using the lot are advised by Community Transit to take Quil Ceda Boulevard to the north portion of 34th Avenue and head south to the lot.
All in all, the construction will leave about half of the 70 park and ride spots available. Posters and flyers will be distributed at the park and ride with information regarding parking during the construction.
Vanpools and carpools will have access to the northeast corner of the Tulalip Casino parking lot during as work progresses.

City seeks volunteers for third Community Pride Day
MARYSVILLE The city Parks and Recreation Department invites individuals and groups to volunteer for the third annual Community Pride Day, 9 a.m. to noon, May 17.
Volunteers and city staff will plant summer annuals including petunias, marigolds, geraniums and begonias at several city parks and city facilities.
The city has purchased 282 flats of summer flowers to help beautify the area through the coming months, said Mike Robinson, parks maintenance manager.
Volunteers will meet at Ebey Waterfront Park, 1404 First St., then break into groups.
