M’ville teen reported missing after falling into Pacific Ocean

MARYSVILLE – A 17-year-old Marysville girl has been missing since Feb. 1 after reportedly falling into the Pacific Ocean at Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area.

MARYSVILLE – A 17-year-old Marysville girl has been missing since Feb. 1 after reportedly falling into the Pacific Ocean at Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area.

At approximately 2:50 p.m. four youths were climbing on the cape at Cape Kiwanda when Owens fell off the rocks into an area known as the Punch Bowl.

Oregon State Police responded, along with Tillamook County sheriff’s deputies, local fire/EMS and aircraft from the U.S. Coast Guard.

During the search, two members from the North Lincoln Fire and Rescue, who were searching on personal watercraft, reportedly fell into the water as sea conditions began to worsen and were later rescued by the USCG Jayhawk aircraft crew. One responder was dropped off at the beach, and the other was transferred to emergency medical services personnel in Lincoln City.

Aircraft continued their search late into the night. Troopers and deputies remained on the beach until search crews arrived the next morning.
