MARYSVILLE Police made quick work of a burglary ring who stole a Mercedes-Benz and a handgun from a Marysville home.
A tense stand off ensued late in the afternoon of Oct. 2 when police surrounded a home in the 5000 block of 103 Place NE, and could clearly hear through the door the sound of a bullet being chambered in a gun. Some of the residents fled through the back and the remainder left the house and were taken into custody without incident.

The events started in the early morning hours when a Marysville police officer in the area of 59th Avenue and Grove Street observed two vehicles that appeared suspicious. One of the vehicles was a Mercedes-Benz convertible with the top down at 6:30 a.m. and the second car appeared to be following the Mercedes. When the second vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign a traffic stop was made. The driver of the vehicle was a 23-year-old Monroe man, driving on a suspended license. The driver was arrested and during a search of the vehicle, property that appeared to have been recently stolen was discovered. The investigation led officers to a residence in the 7000 block of 55th Avenue NE that had just been burglarized. Also stolen in the burglary were the Mercedes-Benz convertible and a hand gun. The Mercedes Benz was recovered a short distance away in the 6500 block of 66th Drive, and a Honda was stolen from that location was recovered approximately three hours later.

Officers and detectives from Marysville continued to follow up on information and leads that they developed over the remainder of the day. At approximately 4:00 p.m. the investigation led officers to a residence in the 5000 block of 103rd Pl NE where two of the suspects were alleged to be staying. When officers attempted to contact the occupants of the residence, they heard through the door, the sound of a handgun chambering a bullet. A male and female fled out the back door and others were heard yelling inside the house. Officers surrounded the residence and began talking to the occupants. After a short standoff all the remaining occupants came out of the residence without incident. Marysville detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and as a result the hand gun taken in the burglary was recovered.

At the end of the day, the 23-year-old Snohomish man, a 21-year-old Everett man, and a 25-year-old Lake Stevens man, and a 23-year-old Everett woman who was the passenger in the stopped vehicle were all arrested and booked into Snohomish County jail on charges of first degree burglary. A 19-year-old female from Marysville was arrested for an unrelated felony warrant.
