MARYSVILLE – A local church is opening its doors tonight for a vigil to honor the lives lost in the deadly shooting in Orlando, Fla., this week.

The vigil will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Marysville United Methodist Church, 5600 64th St., pastor Jenny Smith said.

Smith said the church bishop in Seattle encouraged them to open up facilities to communities for such activities.

She said the local event will not be highly structured. People are invited to come and pray and join in conversation.

Smith said there will be prayer cards, candles and a slide show. Activities for children also will be available.

Unlike some Methodist churches where the jury is still out on LGBT, Smith said theirs is a reconciliatory church of acceptance.
