Air Force Cadet Joshua J. Clifford graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. The graduate received a bachelor of science degree and was commissioned as a second lieutenant.

Air Force Cadet Joshua J. Clifford graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. The graduate received a bachelor of science degree and was commissioned as a second lieutenant.

The academy offers a four-year educational program of instruction and experience designed to provide cadets with the knowledge and character essential for air and space leaders and the motivation to serve as Air Force career officers. The curriculum provides a balanced program of military training, academics, physical training, athletic conditioning and character and ethical development. The new lieutenants serve as pilots, navigators, engineers, maintenance officers, professionals in various management and technical fields and some attend medical or graduate school with special scholarships, while others go directly to non-rated Air Force-wide assignments.

Clifford received a degree in management at the academy.

The new lieutenant is the son of Bob and Jean Clifford of 132nd Place N.E., Marysville, Wash.

He is a 2004 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School, Marysville.

Aaron C. Bunn

Aaron C. Bunn graduated from the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Knoxville, Tenn., and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air National Guard.

The six-week, in-resident course curriculum is designed to prepare Aaron for initial assignment as a commissioned officer and to serve as a foundation to build a career in the Air Force reserve. The major subject areas of instruction for Bunn included military studies, physical training, academic studies, professional development, communicative skills, leadership and management, international security and defense studies.

After graduation, Lieutenant Bunn will either attend further career development training or return to his resident state unit of assignment.

Bunn, a C-130 aircraft pilot, is assigned to the 144th Airlift Squadron, Kulis Air National Guard Base, Anchorage, Alaska. He has served in the military for seven years.

He is the son of Cora L. Carleson of E. Broadview Ave., Wasilla, Alaska, and Keith W. Bunn of Marysville, Wash.

His wife, Lalia, is the daughter of Joe Velasquez, and Cindy Sherman, both of Palmer, Alaska.

Lieutenant Bunn graduated in 2001 from Mat-Su High School, Wasilla, and received a bachelor’s degree in 2005 from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Anchorage.
