MARYSVILLE – The setting at the Marysville Opera House was historic. It was if James and Maria Comeford, the founders of the city, were there.

Actually, they were: in the form of Nathaniel Roth of Marysville Getchell and Haley Ries of Marysville-Pilchuck high schools.

The pair played the Comefords in a skit put on during the Mayor’s Gala March 20. The event concluded a weekend of festivities to honor the city’s 125th birthday celebration.

Another highlight of the gala was the performance of Tiller’s Folly, who tell historic stories of the Pacific Northwest through their songs.

More than 100 people attended, also enjoying appetizers and historical displays.

The Marysville Parks, Culture and Recreation Department put on the event in part to show off the revamped Opera House, which is being marketed as a cultural center with dances and all types of music.
